Multi-Level Residential Concrete Works
Concrete It was engaged by QBS to undertake the placing and finishing of two substantial concrete floor slabs as part of a high-end new residential build at 9 Rufina Way, Flat Bush.
The project comprised approximately 700m² of concrete flooring across two levels, including a 400m² ground-floor slab and a 300m² upper-floor slab. Both slabs were constructed at 150mm thickness, with each level placed as a single continuous pour and completed within one day.
While straightforward in appearance, the scale and architectural requirements demanded a high degree of planning, coordination and finishing expertise. The upper-level slab was constructed over formwork, requiring controlled and systematic concrete placement. Concrete was delivered via boom pump, enabling the Concrete It team to efficiently manage placement across the large floor areas while maintaining the required levels and consistency.
Both floors required a high-specification mechanically floated finish. Achieving a uniform result across slabs of this scale required careful management of concrete placement, screeding and finishing timing, with mechanical floating coordinated progressively as the concrete reached the optimum finishing condition.
The architectural design introduced further complexity through numerous rebates associated with the architectural window systems. These interfaces demanded accurate placement and detailed finishing alongside the larger mechanically finished areas.
Completing each substantial slab as a single-day pour required a highly coordinated crew, with placement, levelling, detailing and mechanical finishing working continuously to maintain quality across the entire floor.
For Concrete It, this project demonstrates that exceptional placing and finishing is not necessarily defined by decorative concrete. It is defined by precision, consistency and disciplined execution at scale.
Across two major pours and 700m² of concrete, the team delivered the accuracy and high-quality finish expected of a premium architectural build, providing QBS with an exceptionally well-executed concrete substrate for the next stages of construction.
